Lilypie Waiting to Adopt tickers
Hello,

We are excited at the opportunity to share our lives and ourselves with you. We cannot begin to imagine how difficult making an adoption plan might be for you, and we can only hope that a view into our life might provide some encouragement and hope.

How we met!

A secret blind date at the Christmas tree lighting in Rockefeller Center - the day that started it all! We hit it off and, almost instantly, realized we were on the same page. Kenny, although four years younger, was already at the point in his life where he was ready for marriage and children; as was I. We both knew this was "it" and we got engaged nine months later! Our wedding was perfect. Not only were we excited to begin our new life together, we were blessed to have all of our family and friends there to celebrate this special day with us.

Almost immediately after we got married, we were excited to start a family. However, as we are sure you realize, life does not go exactly according to plan. After not being able to become pregnant, we realized God had a different plan for us.

Our Adoption Journey

Our adoption journey began with a phone call from my Aunt Dianne and Uncle Kenny. Their friends' niece was pregnant and looking to make an adoption plan. Two weeks later, an amazing relationship started when we met with Sam's birthparents and their moms. It's a relationship that continues to grow. We still have regular contact through visits, pictures, emails, phone calls and yes, even texting!

We always knew we would care very deeply for our children's birthmoms, but we never dreamed we would love this much! Having an open adoption has been such a life-enriching blessing and we really look forward to having another wonderful family become part of ours. We want to love your baby and you!

A Little Bit About Us

We have been married for a little over 9 years and together for a little over 11. We were both born and raised in New York, and still live here today. We own a home in a nice neighborhood, in a town with good schools, about 25 minutes from New York City.

We adopted our son Sam, in 2007 he just turned three in October. He is all "boy" but as sweet as can be as well. While he loves playing ball of any kind, he is just as quick to push around a baby stroller. He loves his dog and cat, cars, his mom and dad and of course ice pops! He adores babies, making him perfect "big brother" material.

I am a stay-at-home mom and my husband works nights, so he is able to spend a lot of quality time with us. I guess we would be considered pretty traditional. We are Catholic and go to church fairly regularly, we do miss some weeks. LOL!

We believe in discipline, but not hitting. We say "I love you" all the time, to each other and to Sam. We are not perfect, or wealthy nor do we have PhDs, but we are very good, honest people who want nothing more than to have a happy family. Kenny and I have been through a lot together over the years and are still best friends. I am not going to say we are a perfect couple and we never fight, because that's not true, but we talk it out and then move on.

I am Irish and Austrian. Kenny is Irish, Italian and German. Sam is a mix of everything too; Irish, Austrian, Scottish, Spanish, Italian, Ukrainian. I come from a family of five, with a brother and sister. Kenny comes from a family of four, with one brother. Kenny's Dad lives very close to us as does his brother, his wife and our niece. We get together with them often. Kenny's mom lives in Florida, we visit yearly as does she. My parents live very close to us as well, we see them all the time. My sister is married and has a daughter and twins on the way. She lives in RI but we are always visiting each other, she's my best friend. My brother, his wife and 3 children live near my mom, it's great for cousin get togethers.

Some other things about our life: I enjoy gardening and cooking and taking lots of pictures, reading (yet now it's Goodnight Moon instead of novels :) We live pretty close to the shore, which is good considering I love the beach. Kenny likes golf, racquetball, reading and music. We love going on vacation. We have three timeshares and they get used!

Even when we are home, we still love family outings. We have a park at the end of our block and we join the pool there for the summer. Sam loves swimming. We also use the playground there a couple times a week. Many other weekends are filled with trips to the museum or seasonal favorites, like pumpkin picking and baseball games.

Our Family

We have a pretty big extended family which, with the expected arrival of my sister's twins in April, is about to get even bigger in the next few months. So, not only would the baby have our love, he or she would be surrounded by lots of doting grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. We also have lots of close friends who we consider family. We are truly a tight-knit bunch. Everyone was extremely happy when we adopted Sam. Now, they can't wait to welcome another blessing into the family.

Our Wish

I guess one of the most important things for you to know about us is, we love, love, love being Mommy and Daddy. We cherish every moment we get with our son and will do the same with our new baby. We have plenty of room in our hearts to love another child unconditionally. We had a lot of time for ourselves before we became parents, now we can't wait to make our family of three..... FOUR!

We do have an open adoption with Sam's birthmom. This experience has been so fulfilling, we hope to have another open adoption, which can include visits, updates, pictures, videos. Any or all of these are what we are hoping for. We are not really comfortable with a totally closed adoption because we would love for our children to have their birthparents in their lives some how. This kind of relationship is so very important to us and we hope to share it with you.

We'd like thank you for taking the time to learn about our family. Which ever path you decide is best for you and your baby, please know that you are in our prayers.
